Your Roof Fascia and Soffit

When it comes to a home’s curb appeal, the first few aspects most people consider is siding, shingles, windows or gutters.  While those are essential pieces, there is another combination that a property needs to be considered finished – soffit and fascia.

SOFFIT AND FASCIA WORK CLOSELY TOGETHER TO PROTECT YOUR HOME.

Soffit – the horizontal board that runs from the bottom edge of the fascia and butts up against the house.

Fascia – the vertical board that runs along the eaves of your home and is where the gutters attach.  This board is commonly wrapped in metal and the wrap is also known as fascia.

A VARIETY OF CHOICES

Soffit and fascia are typically composed of aluminum, vinyl, or wood.  The types of weather in your region will help you determine which is the best fit for your property.  Vinyl and aluminum are most common.

BENEFITS OF SOFFIT

Soffit finishes the look of a home.  New home construction often leaves the underside of the roof decking exposed.  Soffit provides a clean line where the roof and home meet. Additionally, soffit will prevent the need to paint difficult to access areas.

BENEFITS OF FASCIA

Fascia wrap has three main benefits.  The first is to protect the fascia board from the elements which can cause them to rot.  The second is to prevent painting.  Trying to paint fascia is quite taxing as the gutter is in the way. Lastly, a proper fascia wrap provides a clean consistent look to your home.

MAINTAINING CURB APPEAL

Installing soffit and fascia is an excellent way to add curb appeal to your home.   In addition to improving your home’s cosmetics, you will save time and money by avoiding future painting projects.

VENTILATION

The functional aspect of soffit is to help ventilate your attic space. Ferguson Roofing can evaluate your soffit and make sure that you are getting adequate attic ventilation.
