10 Simple Tips For Roofers

  1. Check your shoes. Wear the correct footwear and be mindful of additional hazards such as wet leaves, ice and snow.

  2.  Stockpile. Prepare for snow and ice by storing of salt and grit in advance.

  3. Wear the correct cold weather gear.  Make sure it fits as it should if you’ve layered up your clothing.

  4. Maintain a good blood circulation, particularly if you’re exposed to vibrations from power tools.  The cold weather can take its toll on the body, so keep warm and improve blood circulation. The simple addition of adequate hats, gloves and jackets can make all the difference.

  5. Don’t let water supplies freeze.

  6. Warm trucks adequately.

  7. Stock vehicles with screen wash and de-icer to ensure driver safety.

  8. Keep all vehicle lights clean to ensure good visibility for the driver and for others to see you.

  9. Talk.  Keep in touch with everyone on site during cold spells and ensure any lone workers have a means of contact.  Where possible, work in pairs.

  10. Drink warm, sweet drinks to keep up energy levels, as well as keep you warm on the inside.
